Beauty salon owner Sandra McClumpha has been exclusively responsible for its meteoric rise in the UK, driven by her determination to raise awareness of the dangers of sun beds and sunbathing after her mother had a melanoma removed. When she came across Fake Bake, already hugely successful in America, she recognised its potential for the British market and purchased the UK license for the brand. As a single mother with a one-year-old child and a baby on the way, Sandra might have felt daunted by the task ahead of her, but with steely determination she set about winning the salon industry over to her product, salon by salon.
